Overcoming Anxiety

Overcoming Anxiety

Anxiety can impact individuals of all ages. Whether it is frequent worrying that causes your brain to race or an overwhelming sense of dread that won't go away, anxiety can be debilitating.

Anxiety can come in many different forms. Generalized anxiety disorder impacts individuals in their daily lives. Obsessive-compulsive disorder is also under the umbrella of anxiety disorders and causes people to have obsessive thoughts that must be managed by a compulsion. Specific phobias create intense fear and panic about specific topics. Panic attacks can strike at any time and leave a person helpless.

Counseling can help with all of these types of anxiety. At Unlimited Potential Counseling, our therapists work with you to find tools and skills needed to reduce the intensity of your anxiety and get back to your daily life. All of our interventions are developmentally appropriate based on each individual's specific needs and abilities. We work with children, teens, and adults.

As counselors, we aren't going to immediately tell you that you need medication to fix the problem. However, we recognize that some individuals do benefit from medication to manage mental health needs and we can help to monitor medications. If at any time, concerns become so great that we feel medication would be helpful, we can help you through that process.
