Clinical therapy originally appealed to me because I realized one of life's undeniable truths: All people will experience adversity. I appreciate each family's unique dynamic and am dedicated to providing the necessary resources for people experiencing familial hardships. My true passion lies in my work with children. I believe proper guidance and support are necessary to guarantee positive outcomes in life. I use play therapy to work with children and provide the crucial life skills they need in a fun and non-threatening environment.
Before joining Unlimited Potential Counseling & Education Center, I served as a Child and Family Therapist for over ten years. I specialize in working with children, teens, and families by providing the necessary support to overcome life's difficulties. I find play therapy to be the best tool when working with young children because children communicate naturally through play and through this play, they are able to find solutions to their struggles.
Some of the areas I specialize with are working with children and teen with a background of severe abuse or neglect, grief, teen pregnancy, adoption, and the transition into foster care. I also help families work with children and teens dealing with the more frequent issues of anxiety, depression, and school struggles. I pride myself in playing an active role in my clients' improvement. Compassion, consistency, and stability are my primary intention with each of my clients.
I believe my work does not end with helping my clients develop healthy coping skills; I work diligently to maintain an open line of communication with all influential people in a child's life. By consulting and collaborating with parents, family members, schools, and medical professionals, I ensure that strides made in therapy are not limited to the counseling office.
