Autism Spectrum Disorder and Asperger's

People diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders show their symptoms in vastly different ways.  Sometimes children struggle with black-and-white thinking and trouble transitioning. Some autistic people have intense and passionate interests; sensory processing issues are also common in people with autism. Understanding and utilizing subtle social cues and communication is another frequent characteristic of autism. (Autism Spectrum Disorder includes what was previously diagnosed as Asperger's Disorder.)

At Unlimited Potential Counseling & Education Center, we strongly believe in the strength of neurodiversity and we work to help families recognize both the strengths and struggles of an autism diagnosis. We help our clients find what works for them to find success social, educational, and work settings - without asking them to change who they are.

Counseling can greatly increase the functioning and abilities of a person diagnosed with autism.  Especially at a young age, counseling and teaching of coping strategies and social skills can be life changing.  However, counseling can still be beneficial at any age, even adulthood.

At Unlimited Potential Counseling, we want to help clients with autism grow and thrive in their lives.  Since autism is such a spectrum, counselors will work with each client individually to come up with a plan that will help them the most.
